Illinois Appellate Defender's Office  - (Expungements)  CLEAR YOUR RECORD

The State Appellate Defender's Office is charged with the responsibility of providing forms and information to those wishing to Seal or Expunge certain court records. Read all instructions and forms at the link carefully to make sure you are eligible and which forms you should use. In Stephenson County, the following procedures will apply:

  • The cost of Sealing or Expunging a Court Record is a total of $120.00.
  • This includes a $60.00 filing fee, plus a $60.00 State Police fee.

Illinois State Police Sex Offender List


The Sex Offender Registry was created in response to the Illinois Legislature's determination to facilitate access to publicly available information about persons convicted of sex offenses, when such charge results in one of the following:

  • A conviction for the commission of the offense or attempt to commit the offense,
  • A finding of not guilty by reason of insanity of committing the offense or attempting to commit the offense, or
  • A finding not resulting in an acquittal at a hearing for the alleged commission or attempted commission of the offense.

PayCourt (formerly known as Credit Collection Partners - CCP) is an 80-year-old Taylorville, Ill.-based government collection agency that contracts with Illinois county state’s attorneys to recoup fines owed by defendants found liable in the county courts. PayCourt ensures the counties collect fines rightfully owed that help to fund critical court and county-sponsored programs, such as probation services, court security, and other critical social services for county residents.
